Ashwagandha Root for Weight Loss
A 2025 study found that 300mg of ashwagandha root extract 2x daily significantly reduced weight compared to placebo (mean -8.46kg vs -2.41kg) over 24 weeks in overweight women (BMI 25-39.9 kg/m2). Ashwagandha root significantly reduced serum cortisol levels compared to placebo. Ashwagandha may cause gastrointestinal issues among other side effects. Prolonged use at high doses can lead to liver injury.
