Green Cardamom for Fatty Liver

Green cardamom may improve non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

A 2019 study found that 1g of green cardamom 3x daily with meals significantly improved the degree of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease as determined by ultrasound compared to placebo over 3 months. Green cardamom also significantly improved LDL, HDL, triglycerides and insulin sensitivity (HOMA-IR and fasting blood insulin). Another 2019 study found that green cardamom may improve 3 month average blood sugar (HgbA1c) in type 2 diabetics as well. Cardamom may cause digestive or other side effects.
