Astragalus for Knee Pain

Astragalus may improve functional knee pain

A 2025 study found that 480mg of astragalus root extract daily significantly improved functional knee joint pain (not linked to acute injury or chronic disease) compared to placebo over 4 weeks. It took about 2 weeks with astragalus before improvements were seen. Astragalus is thought to have anti-inflammatory effects. Astragalus may cause gastrointestinal or other side effects.
